BNP Paribas Reorganizes Investment Banking In The Americas Business

BNP Paribas  said Tuesday it has named  Edward Speal head of global equities and commodity derivatives Americas, Lionel Crassier head of equities Americas, and Dan Cozine head of Structured Finance Americas. In addition Chris Innes has joined as head of equity flow and financing sales for the Americas.

“These appointments add further breadth and depth to the GECD Americas senior management team. As the Capital Markets evolve, our platform is working to take advantage of the opportunities presented to our business as well as adapting to the changing regulatory environment.  Our goal is to continue providing the best service to our clients and building our client franchise including becoming a top 5 player in Prime Brokerage globally,” Yann Gerardin, global head of equities and commodity derivatives. said in a press release.

Speal has been with BNP Paribas for more than 20 years. He is currently head of the Structured Finance business which includes export, project, energy and commodity finance. Before that role which he assumed in 2008, he spent three years as head of territory in Canada. Speal also served as head of commodity derivatives. He reports locally to Everett Schenk, head of territory, North America and globally to Gerardin.

Crassier has been with BNP Paribas for more than 15 years and has held senior positions in Tokyo and Paris before moving to New York as head of equity derivatives trading and structuring in 2007. Crassier has been running the global equities and commodity derivatives  platform in the Americas since 2009. In his new role as head of equities and deputy head of GECD in the Americas, he will focus on aligning the equity derivatives organization with the bank’s  global strategy and implementing its development plans.

Innes has joined as head of equity flow and financing sales, Americas, including cash equity. Inness ran Bank of America’s  EQD and finance platform as well as his own hedge fund and equity brokerage firm. He reports to Crassier.

Cozine returns to New York to run the structured finance business after spending two years in London as head of loan syndications and trading for EMEA. Before that, he held positions as co-head of energy and commodities structured debt and head of project finance in the Americas. He reports locally to Schenk and globally to Dominique Remy, global head of structured finance.  

“Dan is a great professional with many years of Structured Finance experience and I am confident he will continue the stellar job Edward has done with the Structured Finance business,” Remy said in the release

“A major goal of the BNP Paribas group is to continue growing our Investment Banking operation in the US,” said Schenk. “We have taken advantage of the tremendous opportunities that have been presented to us over the past two years and have expanded by product as well as by adding several senior level people. We will continue to invest in the platform and explore further opportunities for expansion."
