BNY Mellon Builds Out Washington Wealth Management Office

BNY Mellon has added a new member to its wealth management office in Washington, D.C. Christopher K. Ross joined the team as a senior portfolio manager and will lead client relationships and investment strategy for the office, the firm announced today.

Ross was previously with Wells Fargo Private Bank, where he was responsible for client investment management, planning and balance sheet management. Prior to that, he served as the Washington branch office manager for Neuberger Berman. He has more than 18 years of industry experience with 15 years specifically focused on managing investments for wealthy families and institutions, according to BNY Mellon.

Ross reports to Susan Traver, who was hired to head up the Washington office when it opened in November of last year. Since it opened, BNY Mellon has hired five new people, including Ross and Traver.

“With his deep industry experience and focus on clients, Chris will be instrumental in helping BNY Mellon Wealth Management maintain the robust client satisfaction and retention rates we’ve enjoyed for more than a decade,” Traver said in a statement.

BNY Mellon opened the office in Washington, D.C. — the nation’s fourth largest wealth market — as part of a strategic push to be in the top 10 U.S. wealth markets, the firm told Bank Investment Consultant in November.

BNY Mellon Wealth Management has $176 billion in private client assets and an international network of offices.
