BNY Mellon Wealth Management has nabbed an executive from Regions Private Wealth Management to lead the firms wealth management business in Texas. Todd Carlton joined the firm as regional president and is based in Dallas, the wealth manager announced Thursday.

At Regions Private Wealth Management, Carlton served as the Texas-area wealth executive. Prior to that, he was vice president of private client services at First Horizon Bank and earlier in his career, he provided personal financial services at JP Morgan Chase and was a financial advisor with UBS Paine Webber.
BNY Mellon Wealth Managements focus on Texas is integral to our long-term growth strategy in key U.S. wealth markets, David Emmes, president of U.S. MarketsWest, said in a statement. Building on the incredible growth of the last four years, in 2014 we plan to add at least five more professionals in Dallas to sustain the high-quality service we deliver to clients while also gaining new ones.
The Dallas office opened in 2009 with a staff of two. By 2012, it had 10 staff members, according to the firms announcement.
BNY Mellon also hired a senior private banker in Washington, D.C. Abigail Bensimhon joined the wealth management team from Capital Bank in Rockville, Md., where she was a senior commercial loan officer.
The new hires are part of the wealth managers campaign to increase its sales force by 50% and add private and mortgage bankers and other professionals in key wealth markets by the end of 2014.
