BNY Mellon Wealth Management is bulking up its resources in the burgeoning Florida market.
The wealth manager promoted two BNY Mellon executives to newly created regional posts in Naples and Miami, the firm announced Thursday.
Lisa Simington, leader of the firms private banking effort in Southeastern U.S., was promoted to regional president of Western Florida. She will oversee the firms wealth management business in key wealth markets in Western Florida, ranging from Naples to Tampa. She will transition into her new position by Oct. 1, BNY Mellon said in the announcement.
Joseph Fernandez, managing director for Florida, was promoted to regional president of Eastern Florida. He will oversee the firms wealth management offices in Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Boca Raton and Miami.
To better align our business with future growth opportunities in Floridas key wealth markets, we have reorganized the firms leadership structure with the creation of two regional president roles in the region, Craig Sutherland, president of the Southeastern U.S. region, said in a statement.
BNY Mellon has experienced strong growth in the Florida market, with the number of clients increasing 60% over the last 18 months, according to BNY Mellon. It expects to double its regional sales force over the next year and a half, the firm said.
Simington, who will be based in Naples, joined BNY Mellon in late 2009 and has more than 25 years of experience in financial services, including positions with Wells Fargo and Goldman Sachs. Fernandez, a 15-year veteran of the BNY Mellon, was team leader in the firms Miami office, overseeing the largest team in the region, prior to becoming managing director for Florida. He will be based in Miami.
