After two years of development,
Brinker said its UMA has been designed specifically for financial advisers who do not work at large brokerage firms, most likely because Brinker distributes its products through independent registered investment advisors and advisors associated with insurance companies. Brinker is also touting its UMA as "the most sophisticated and user-friendly in the marketplace today, offering access to more managers in more asset categories, like international mid-cap and alternatives, than currently available from any other sponsor."
With the help of their financial adviser, the UMA asks investors at the outset about their financial status, investment experience, goals and risk tolerance. It then automatically recommends one of the 20 strategies available. Brinker is requiring a minimum investment of $250,000.
