Buyers Jump Back in As Dow Rallies Up 322 Points

Bargain hunters got back into the mix Tuesday, snapping up shares across all sectors as the Dow Jones Industrial average stormed up 322 points, or 3%, for the day.

Tech stocks were especially popular as the Nasdaq rallied up 100 points, or 4.3%, to finish at 2,446.06 and the S&P 500 gained 38.53 points to close at 1,162.35.

Dow Jones Industrial average:

·         Up 322.11 points, or 2.97%, to 11176.76

·         Up two consecutive trading days.

·         Up 359.11 points, or 3.32%, over the two-day trading period.

·         Largest two-day points & percentage gain since August 12, 2011.

·         Up six of the past nine trading days.

·         Largest one-day points & percentage gain since August 11, 2011.

·         An intraday high of 11176.84 occurred at 16:03:53 today, representing an increase of 322.19 points, or 2.97%.

·         An intraday low of 10854.43 occurred at 09:30:02 today, representing a decrease of 0.22 point, or 0.002%.

·         Twenty-nine of the 30 component stocks rose, one fell.

·         Today's top contributors to The Dow's movement and their points contribution: IBM (40.41), CVX (30.50), XOM (26.34), CAT (23.39), MMM (20.59).

·         Today's laggard: BAC (-0.91).

·         Traded in positive territory for more than 99 percent of the day.
