Calamos already has four other funds on its growing UCITS platform: the Global Equity Fund, U.S. Growth Fund, Global Convertible Opportunities Fund and U.S. Convertible Opportunities Fund.
The Supperannuation Arrangements of the University of London (SAUL) has allocated $73 million to the new UCITS. “We chose Calamos because their approach adds a new dimension to our emerging markets portfolio,” said Penny Green, chief executive of SAUL Trust Company. “They focus on revenue generation, as opposed to where a firm is domiciled, looking at economies as well as markets. Also, they take a top-down view across a company’s capital structure, rather than confining themselves to equities. Their robust approach to risk management is a good fit with our overall investment strategy.”
The Calamos Emerging Markets UCITS invests in various regions, countries, market capitalizations, sectors and security types.
“We believe the key to consistent, long-term investment success is pursuing an optimal balance of enhancing investment returns and managing risk,” said Calamos CEO and co-CIO John P. Calamos, Sr. “The Calamos Emerging Markets Fund shares this investment philosophy and builds on our extensive experience of investing in global markets and emerging economies.”
