Calvert Foundation Launches Non-Profit Research

Calvert Foundation today announced the launch of Giving Folios, a platform of independent research geared toward donor programs. Giving Folios will provide analysis on charities from experts around the country, according to Calvert.

The Calvert Giving Fund, the firm’s recently launched socially responsible donor-advised product, will be the first fund to offer the research platform. Calvert Foundation will also offer it to outside donor programs, the company said.

"When individuals invest in a company or a fund, they expect access to third-party research; Giving Folios bring a similar strategy to giving," said Timothy Freundlich, director of strategic development for Calvert Foundation.

Initially there will be eight Giving Folios from which donors can choose to research on the Giving Folio Database. They are: Global Peace and Security, Education Reform, Global Women’s Rights, Young Women’s Leadership, Global Grassroots Environment, Affordable Housing, Microcredit and Global Warming. Donors can choose a folio and then research charities and nonprofits within it. Calvert is planning to add six more folios by the end of the year, including Social Enterprise and Middle East Peace.
