The product, called the DEM Equity fund, invests in U.S. companies controlled by women and those of African, Asian and Hispanic descent. The firms marketing campaign will be broadcast on stations owned by Radio One, which targets a large segment of African American and urban listeners, according to a statement issued by Chapman Capital.
Radio One, the nations seventh-largest radio broadcaster, operates 65 stations in 22 of the countrys largest markets, including Washington D.C., Baltimore, Atlanta, Philadelphia and Detroit.
The campaign is intended to prompt investors to request the fund in their defined contribution plans, said Nathan Chapman, Jr., who heads Chapman Capital Management. He also hopes plan sponsors will hear the ads and add the fund to their plans.
