Citizens Advisers, investment advisor to the socially responsible Citizens Funds, has promoted Jeffrey Schappe to senior vice president and chief investment officer, a new position at the firm.
Schappe joined Citizens last May as vice president and director of research. He previously was director of equity research at George K. Baum, and Co. and a senior portfolio manager at Conseco Capital Management.
In his new position, Schappe will oversee all equity and fixed-income portfolio management and trading activities at Citizens. He will also head up the firm's fundamental and social research, including shareholder activism initiatives. He will continue to serve as the portfolio manager of the Citizens Small Cap Core Growth and Citizens Emerging Growth funds.
"Jeff Schappe has a strong investment research and management background," said Citizens Chairwoman Sophia Collier. "He and his team will enable us to focus even more intently on investing our shareholders' assets and meeting their investment goals, from both a performance and social perspective."
