Consulting Firm Sells Financial Services Arm

Access Data Corp., a software firm that caters to the financial services industry, announced today that it has acquired Atlantic Research and Consulting’s financial services practice for an undisclosed sum.

The Boston-based consulting firm’s financial services arm provides research and data to firms like BISYS, Lipper and Pioneer. In addition, Atlantic conducts all of the research for the National Investment Company Service Association’s annual shareholder survey.

"We’ve added Atlantic’s financial services market research capabilities to extend our existing offering of strategy, implementation, marketing and technology development services for a complete end-to-end solution for our customers," said James Dolan, CEO of Access Data, in a statement.

In addition, the firms have formed a partnership in which Atlantic will provide Access Data with research and data to support Access’ business strategy practice and in return Atlantic will tap Access’ technology resources, the companies said.

As part of the deal, Lonnie Macdonald, currently a senior VP with Atlantic, will become the managing director of research with Access and Brett Sullivan, a VP with Atlantic, will become director of research with the firm.
