David Odenath Heads Up Pru's New Annuity Division

Prudential Financial has named David Odenath president of the new annuities group, formed as a result of the firm's recently announced plan to acquire American Skandia.

Wade Dokken, president and CEO of American Skandia, will stay on with Prudential in the strategic planning office of the insurance division.

With more than two decades in financial services, Odenath is currently president of Prudential's annuities business. Previously, he was president of Prudential's investments group, where he was responsible for annuities, mutual funds and managed accounts.

Prior to Prudential, Odenath was SVP, director of sales for the investment-consulting group at Paine Webber.

Skandia said it would make further announcements about the senior management team in the next few weeks, with the deal expected to close by the end of the second quarter.
