Dreyfus Promotes Sheldon to Chief Investment Officer

BNY Mellon Asset Management has promoted Christopher Sheldon to chief investment officer of The Dreyfus Corp. Sheldon hails from BNY Mellon Wealth Management, where he was director of investment strategy and president of BNY Mellon Funds.

A longtime executive with BNY Mellon, he joined the firm in 1995. Sheldon has more than 20 years of industry experience as a portfolio manager and investment strategist and is a frequent guest on Bloomberg, CNBC and industry conferences on investment strategies, financial markets and the economy.

Sheldon replaces Phil Maisano, who retired earlier this year. He will spend the next two months transitioning into his new role, officially taking over on Nov. 1.

“Our chief investment officer is a key member of the leadership team at Dreyfus, and I am pleased to welcome Chris into this role,” said Jon Baum, chief executive officer of Dreyfus. “His knowledge and strategic insights, exceptional judgment and strong communications skills will be great assets to us as we continue to become an even greater force in the mutual fund industry.”
