Eggers Named President of Dreyfus

Thomas Eggers has been appointed president of the Dreyfus Corporation, it was announced last Thursday. He will replace Stephen Canter, who was named Chairman and CEO of the company in May.

Eggers will continue in his position as CEO of Dreyfus Service Corporation, the distributor of the Dreyfus fund family, as well as his post on the senior management committee of Mellon Financial, which is the parent company of Dreyfus.

In a statement Canter said that Eggers was instrumental in expanding Dreyfus' distribution channels and "broadened our reach by ... forging additional relationships with third-party intermediaries."

Before joining Dreyfus, Eggers served as managing director and principal of Mitchell Hutchins, a subsidiary of UBS PaineWebber. He has also overseen Hutchins' retail fund distribution, wrap-free portfolios and separate accounts.
