ETF Assets Up 32% From Year Ago to $1.1 Trillion

Exchange-traded fund assets rose 0.8% in July to $1.086 trillion, up from $1.077 trillion in June, the Investment Company Institute reports. Assets rose 32% from $821 billion a year ago, July 2010.

Net sales for the month were $14.3 billion, and the number of ETFs totaled 1,077, up from 891 in July 2010.

Domestic equity ETF assets reached $1.086 trillion for the month, split between $629 billion in domestic equity ETFs and $293 billion in international equity ETFs.

Hybrid ETFs held $420 million in assets and bond ETFs $163 billion.
