ETF Assts Rise 64% From April 2009

The combined assets of U.S. exchange-traded funds rose 64% from the same time last year, posting an increase of more than $300 billion to reach $830.86 billion for the month ending in April, according to the Investment Company Institute.

Assets of all ETFs rose by $25.50 billion in April, a 3.2% gain from the previous month. Domestic equity ETFs increased by $158.05 billion from April 2009 and global equity ETF assets rose $95.74 during the same period.

Bond fund ETFs had assets of $121.45 billion and hybrid ETFs had $240 million.
