Investment analyst Callie Cox on navigating a tough economy

Is winter's coldest stretch getting you down? Do you seek an escape from the harsh, frigid conditions on Wall Street?

Then allow Financial Planning to transport you back to the dog days of summer and directly into the heart of Surf City.

This new year, unwrap a special look at the Future Proof Festival through a series of interviews with insiders and newsmakers conducted by the Financial Planning editorial team.

In this clip, eToro U.S. investment analyst Callie Cox gave FP Chief Correspondent Tobias Salinger her perspective on a tough economic year and how financial advisors can help clients navigate the tough outlook amid concerns about inflation and interest rates.

With the volatility showing no signs of abating, her longer term view at the beginning of a new year as advisors and the rest of the industry await more rate hikes and a debt ceiling debate in Congress carries additional meaning.

Cox's company, which is led in the U.S. by former Ally Invest Securities and TD Ameritrade executive Lule Demmissie, offers digital investing services with a social network for its tens of millions of users. Cox shared some of the ideas she took back to the East Coast from the conference.
