State Street Names Barry Large-Cap Value Fund PM

Arthur J. Barry, CFA, has joined State Street Research & Management Co. as a vice president and portfolio manager of the State Street Research Large-Cap Value Fund.

Reporting to Peter Zuger, head of value investing for the firm, Barry will manage the fund as well as large-cap value assets for institutional clients.

Barry was previously at Invesco Capital Management in Atlanta, where he served as one-half of a two-person team that managed $1 billion in institutional large-cap value assets. Before that he was a vice president and lead portfolio manager for Federated Research Corp. He joined Federated in 1994 as an investment analyst.

Barry's financial services career started in 1990 at AT&T Bell Laboratories, where he worked as a financial service specialist.

PFPC Adds Several to its Distribution Services Group

PFPC Inc., a member of The PNC Financial Services Group, has made a host of additions to its distribution services group.

Eileen Storz-Salino, a vice president and senior director for PFPC, has been named to oversee the distribution services group. She works with the new product development team to define the strategic direction of new products within the transfer agency.

Shari Klahr, who has been with the firm for about five years, is now the vice president of strategic distribution and reports to James W. Nolan, senior vice president, business development. Eugene Conlon, Sr. has joined the firm as a market research analyst and will report to Klahr.

The firm has also announced that Ann Piacentini has joined PFPC as a vice president of client services within distribution services. She joins PFPC from Scudder Investments, where she served as a senior VP and director of strategic business intelligence.

Additionally, Yvonne Boisvert has been named vice president and managing director of client marketing for PFPC's distribution services. Reporting to her are: John Marchand, director of marketing, Heather Dondis, senior marketing manager, and Jennifer Pouliot, marketing specialist. All three are recent additions to PFPC.

"Distribution services are becoming ever more important within the industry," Nolan said. "As such, clients need a strategic player in their value chain, not just a distribution provider. The recent personnel additions to our team will help solidify PFPC as a leader in distribution services and allow our clients to focus on their main goal of growing assets."

Wells Adds Mann to Boost Presence Among Consultants

Wells Capital Management, a subsidiary of Wells Fargo Bank, has hired Jessica Mann, CFA, in an effort to boost its presence in the consultant community. Mann will report to Amru Khan, head of the firm's institutional sales. Before joining Wells, Mann served as the vice president of professional standards with the Association for Investment Management Research.

Mann's investment consulting career began in 1990 with Mercer Investment Consulting, where she provided investment and consulting advice to U.S. institutions until she was transferred to the firm's London office in 1995. She then focused on European institutional clients for Mercer until 1997, when she joined Watson Wyatt Partners in the U.K. as a senior consultant.
