Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Names Parker Of Counsel

Timothy Parker, a veteran asset and regulatory management lawyer, was named Of Counsel at Kirkpatrick & Lockhart's San Francisco office. He will specialize in the area of investment management.

As the global head of compliance and risk management at Allianz Dresdner Asset Management, Parker worked to follow the guidelines of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act in matters of risk management and audits, as well as asset management. Before working at Allianz, he served eight years as managing director for Dresdner RCM Global Investors, specializing in legal and compliance matters.

K&L's four-year-old San Francisco office now has 31 lawyers and 14 partners, specializing in everything from investment management, to broker/dealer regulation to corporate law. Nationwide, K&L has more than 700 attorneys in 10 offices.

Kelmoore Adds Two VPs, Eight Wholesalers to Staff

Kelmoore Investment Co. has announced the hiring of two new regional vice presidents and eight wholesalers for its sales force, including veterans from, among others, Franklin Resources, Federated Investors and Franklin Templeton.

The company's new Pacific Northwest regional vice president, Shep Griswold, comes from Franklin Resources, where he served as vice president. Dan Miron, who is joining Kelmoore as its Northern California regional vice president, is an Ohio State graduate who worked as a wholesaler at Federated from 1999 until 2004.

The firm has also hired a slew of internal wholesalers. Heather Castellano, a former saleswoman for ATEL Capital Management and Morgan Stanley, has been hired as internal wholesaler covering New York. Karen Dobmeier formerly of JP Morgan/Chase, will take the same position for the Capital Territory, while David Loobey, a former NYSE West internal wholesaler at Franklin Templeton, will hold the position covering Northern California.

The company's other new internal wholesalers are Brian Lynch for the South Central region, Alicia Mehlberg for the Northeast Region, Apryl Miller for the Florida region, Matt Pearson for the Pacific Northwest region and Ron Puccinelli Jr. for the Upper Midwest region.

FRC Promotes Benvenuto To Head of Fund Products

Research firm Financial Research Corp. has named John Benvenuto head of mutual fund products and distribution. Previously the company's director of research, Benvenuto will lead the company's biggest division, responsible for fund products and their distribution.

"With his deep background in research and practical understanding of the industry, John is the ideal person to assist FRC clients in finding solutions to their challenges in the areas of product and distribution," said FRC President Neil Bathon.

Replacing Benvenuto as director of research will be Michael Evans, who previously served as the firm's managed accounts expert.

ICI Taps Krentzman As General Counsel

As its new general counsel, the Investment Company Institute has hired Elizabeth R. Krentzman, formerly of Deloitte & Touche. Krentzman will report to incoming ICI President Paul Stevens and begin in June. Krentzman has served at the Securities and Exchange Commission's division of investment management.
