SEC Promotes Hawke as Philly Associate Director

Daniel M. Hawke, who has worked for the Securities and Exchange Commission's enforcement division for five years, has been promoted to the division's associate district administrator position in the Philadelphia office. He replaces Merri Jo Gillette, who is now the regional director of the SEC's Midwest office.

"During his tenure with the division of enforcement, Dan has demonstrated an extraordinary and unwavering commitment to the work of the Commission," said Stephen M. Cutler, the SEC's director of enforcement, to whom Hawke will report. "He is a great talent, and I am delighted he will be the associate district administrator for enforcement in Philadelphia."

Hawke's work at the Commission was highlighted by his participation in the infamous Arthur Anderson case, in which the accounting firm and four partners improperly audited Waste Management. He also worked on the case against Banc of America Securities that fetched a record $10 million in penalty money for the Commission. He has won two internal awards while working for the division of enforcement.

Prior to joining the SEC in 1999, Hawke was a partner with Tucker, Flyer & Lewis.
