American Stock Exchange Promotes Weber, Ebner To EVP, SVP in ETF Unit

The American Stock Exchange has promoted Cliff Weber to executive vice president of development strategy and Scott Ebner to senior vice president of exchange-traded funds. In his new job, Weber, who has been with the exchange for 17 years, is responsible for developing the exchange's ETF, structured products and equity order business. He previously held the job that has now been given to Ebner.

Ebner has been with Amex for the past nine years, most recently as vice president of ETFs, in charge of new product development.

"Cliff has extensive knowledge and vast experience in all of Amex's business groups," said Neal Wolkoff, chairman and chief executive officer of the exchange. "His record of accomplishment, particularly in ETFs, will provide the exchange with solid leadership as we move forward in our strategic objectives."

Of Ebner's promotion, Wolkoff said, "Scott brings considerable talent and experience to this position, and his experience in ETFs will greatly contribute to the Amex's standing as the leader in innovation and new product development."

Affiliated Managers Hires Horgen as Executive VP, In Charge of Investments

Affiliated Managers Group has hired Jay Horgen as executive vice president, in charge of focusing on investments in new AMG affiliates. Horgen most recently was managing director at Eastside Partners, a private equity firm that he founded. Before that, he was a financial institutions investment banker with the title of managing director at Merrill Lynch. Prior to, he was a financial institutions investment banker with Goldman Sachs.

"With a distinguished reputation as a leading investor in high-quality boutique asset management firms, the company has built a tremendous platform for growth, and I look forward to identifying investment opportunities that contribute to its success."

Hoffman Heads Marketing For Sentinel Fin'l Services

Bruce Hoffman, previously vice president and head of U.S. institutional marketing for T. Rowe Price, has joined Sentinel Financial Services as senior vice president and director of marketing.

Hoffman has also held top marketing and communications positions at Waddell & Reed Financial, Banc of America Capital Management and AIM Investments. He began his career at Liberty Mutual Insurance and then joined State Street Research Investment Services.

"Bruce brings a wealth of experience in marketing of adviser-distributed mutual funds and has shown himself to be innovative and highly creative in a very competitive field," said Christian Thwaites, Sentinel's president and chief executive officer. "Bruce will lead our marketing, positioning, branding and communications strategies and will be an integral part of the senior management team as Sentinel continues to grow its business."
