Executive Moves - Associated Banc Names Beideman President, CEO

The board of directors of Associated Banc-Corp. has tapped Paul S. Beideman as its new president and chief executive officer, replacing Robert C. Gallagher, who is stepping down.

Gallagher, who was named chairman of the board in January, will remain in that role for the foreseeable future. He will provide day-to-day support through a transition period, the company said.

Beideman most recently served as chairman of Mellon Financial Corp.'s Mid-Atlantic Region. He has 32 years of banking experience, with the latter 13 in senior executive positions at Mellon. His background includes extensive experience in consumer and commercial banking in addition to a wide range of experience in marketing, systems and operations, product development, and wealth management. He will assume his new duties April 28.

"Paul brings not only skills and experience that complement the deep strength of our senior management group extremely well, but also a new perspective that ensures Associated will continue its three-decade history of vision, integrity and performance," Gallagher said.
