Rampart Promotes Two to Managing Director

Rampart Investment Management announced the promotions of Debbie L. Cancela and John J. Harrington to support the firm’s global expansion. Cancela, senior vice president, director of operations and chief compliance officer, and Harrington, executive vice president and director of investments, will both become managing directors.

Cancela will have a larger department and continue to manage the same areas. She joined Rampart in 1997 from PanAgora Asset Management. Harrington will take responsibility for Rampart’s business development department, while continuing to manage the investment group. He joined Rampart in 2007, having worked for Schroder Investment Management and Wellington Management Company in the past.

Societe Generale Names Fund Distribution Head

Pascal Berichel will head the international development of Societe Generale Group, where he becomes head of fund distribution services for Societe Generale Securities Services.

He was formerly CEO and managing director of European Funds Services, a subsidiary of SocGen.

Berichel’s objectives will include establishing the firm’s development in the UK and Hong Kong and developing the firm in Eastern Europe and emerging countries.

MMI Elects Salvatore to Co-Chair Operations Group

Hanna Salvatore, a director at Mainstay Investments, has been elected cochair of the operations and standards committee at the Money Management Institute. She will replace Michelle Curley of Citigroup.

“Hanna’s knowledge and skills will help the committee continue toward its goal of delivering communications standards that improve efficiency in the managed solutions industry,” said Salvatore’s co-chair Gib Veconi of Pedricome Corp.

Security Benefit Corp. Lists Senior Management

Security Benefit Corp. has appointed John Frye chief financial officer and senior vice president, and promoted John Guyot to senior vice president, general counsel and secretary. Frye joins the corporation after 20 years at General Electric, where he was chief financial officer for General Electric North America Life & Health. He holds a B.A. in Business from Michigan State University.

Guyot joined Security Benefit in 2003 and has held the positions vice president, associate general counsel and assistant secretary. Previously, he was assistant general counsel and assistant secretary of The Fairchild Corp.

Stephenson Leads M&A Group at Pali Capital

Mergers and acquisitions veteran Randal Stephenson is now senior managing director and head of the corporate advisory group at Pali Capital in New York under Brad Reifler, chairman and CEO. “Pali is in the midst of a major, global expansion,” Reifler said.

Previously, Stephenson was head of middle market M&A and of distressed and special situations M&A at CIT Group. Other prior positions include co-founder and managing director of the M&A advisory group at Jefferies & Co. and co-founder and head of Merrill Lynch’s middle market M&A Group.

He holds a B.A. in economics from the University of Michigan, a J.D. from Boston College Law School and a M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
