Edward Bernard to Chair ICI's Board of Governors

Edward Bernard, vice chairman of T. Rowe Price, is replacing John Murphy, chairman of Oppenheimer Funds, as chairman of the board of governors at the Investment Company Institute.

Bernard will hold the position for a year at a time. Murphy held the post for two years.

ICI's board sets the lobbying agenda and oversees the group's actions. Bernard's board includes as governors Jonathan Baum, chairman and CEO of The Dreyfus Corp.; Dorothy Berry, independent trustee at Allegiant Funds; John Kim, CEO of New York Life Investments; Donald Pratt, independent chair at American Century Funds; and Robert Reynolds, president and CEO of Putnam Funds.

Orrick, Herrington Selects Mattei as Finance Partner

Andrew Mattei has joined Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe as a global finance partner in the New York office. He comes to the firm from Allen & Overy.

"Andrew is an accomplished and highly respected New York finance attorney who further strengthens our New York transactional practice," said Daniel Matthews, chairman of Orrick's global finance group.

Schock Named Director of SEC Investor Education

The Securities and Exchange Commission has named Lori Schock director of its office of investor education and advocacy. She is returning to the SEC after serving as associate director at the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority's Investor Education Foundation. Previously, she worked in the SEC's investor education office as acting director, deputy director and special counsel to the director, and before that, she was director of outreach at the Center for Audit Quality.

"As more than half of American households are invested in the markets for their retirement, children's education, healthcare or other goals, it is imperative that the SEC have a world-class program to provide investor education and promote financial literacy for Americans of all ages," said SEC Chairman Mary L. Schapiro.

Lord Abbett Makes Maurer, Gargano, Weldon Partners

Lord Abbett has tapped three executives as partners: Lynn M. Gargano, Justin C. Maurer and Mike Weldon. Gargano also holds the title of chief financial officer, while Maurer is a portfolio manager, and Weldon is director of marketing.

"We are pleased to recognize these new partners for their contributions to Lord Abbett," said Robert S. Dow, a senior partner with the firm. "While many other investment management firms have turned away from the partnership structure, we believe that remaining an independent, privately held firm is a strategic advantage that allows us to better serve our clients."

Weiss Becomes Chief Exec Of Software Firm IGEFI

Financial software company IGEFI Group has selected Oded Weiss as chief executive officer and member of the board.

He assumes the CEO position from Bertil Rouveure, who is now chairman of the company's board.

"We are delighted to welcome Oded to IGEFI. He brings valuable strategic perspective to our business based on his experience on both operational and technology projects," Rouveure said.
