Stewart Head of EMEA Client Mgt. at BNY Mellon

BNY Mellon announced the appointment of Ian Stewart as head of Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Client Management, a role previously held by Hani Kablawi, who has been appointed Head of EMEA Asset Servicing.

Reporting to Jim Palermo, Vice Chairman and CEO of Global Client Management, Stewart will continue in his role as head of North America Client Management.

In Stewart's capacity as head of EMEA Client Management, he will oversee country management and strategic clients across the EMEA region. As head of Client Management for North America, he is responsible for client relationships within the following groups reporting to him: Banks and Broker Dealers, Investment Managers, Insurance companies, Corporates, Real Estate, Syndications, Not-for-Profits and Federal and State Governments.

Another appointment at BNY Mellon is that of Nadine Chakar as head of its Derivatives360 business, which comprises a broad array of offerings for issuers and investors involving the execution and processing of derivatives.

Reporting to Karen Peetz, vice chairman and chief executive officer of BNY Mellon's Financial Markets and Treasury Services division, Chakar succeeds Patrick Tadie, who has been named to the postion of business executive for the company's Alternative and Broker-Dealer Services businesses.

Chakar, with more than 20 years of progressive experience within BNY Mellon, was most recently the head of the Global Financial Institutions group within the Asset Servicing business.

"At a time of unprecedented market and regulatory change in the derivatives markets, Nadine's proven leadership and abilities will ensure that we continue to meet the evolving needs of our clients as we expand our derivatives offerings globally," said Peetz.

Franklin Templeton Names Two New Hires

Franklin Templeton named Daniel T. O'Lear as head of retail distribution, North America and Thomas M. Regner as head of institutional, North America for Franklin Templeton Investments. Regner was also appointed EVP of Franklin Templeton Institutional LLC.

O'Lear will oversee advisor sales and defined contribution and variable annuity investment-only distribution in the United States and Canada. He will continue as an executive VP of Franklin Templeton Distributors reporting to Peter Jones, president of Franklin Templeton Distributors and Franklin Templeton Institutional, LLC.

O'Lear joined Franklin Templeton's sales team in 1996. Prior to his current role, he served as director of sales for the Unites States, overseeing the external and internal sales teams for the Independent and Bank and the New York Stock Exchange divisions, as well as Key Accounts and the Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) group.

Before joining Franklin Templeton, O'Lear was senior vice president at Kemper Funds where he held the roles of eastern divisional sales manager and national accounts manager.

Regner will head up institutional sales and client service, as well as the company's Registered Investment Advisor group, for the U.S. and Canada. He also will report to Jones.

Prior to his new role, Regner served as an executive vice president of Franklin Templeton Distributors overseeing the Investment Platform and Retirement Division sales group, which works with the investment research teams at variable annuity, defined contribution and broker/dealer clients.

Before joining Franklin Templeton Investments in 2005, Regner served as managing director for business development for Putnam Investments and as a member of the executive committee.

BlackRock Appoints Powers Director/Trustee

The BlackRock registered closed-end funds announced that John F. Powers has been appointed by the Board of Directors/Trustees to serve as an independent director/trustee.

Powers is president and CEO of Stanford Management Company a $16.5 billion endowment of Stanford University. He was previously MD and the director of research at Offit Hall Capital Management. Prior to this, he was the director of institutional sales and research and served as a member of the executive committee at Robertson Stephens, a San Francisco investment bank.

Dillon Gage Names Friedman EVP

Dillon Gage Metals has recently named Roy Friedman, a well-respected trader and commentator in the field of precious metals and global financial markets, to the position of executive vice president of Business Development.

"Roy has over 30 years' in-depth experience in all facets of the precious metals industry," said Terry Hanlon, president of Dillon Gage Metals. "He will be an integral addition to our team and will substantially contribute to our future growth plans."
