JPMorgan Names Leary To Oversee Compliance

Michael J. Leary, a veteran at JPMorgan Investor Services, will take over as the main liaison to the chief compliance officers of his company's clients.

In his new role, Leary will head up JPMorgan Compliance Solutions, a division of JPMorgan recently created to honor the Securities and Exchange Commission mandate to transparently disclose compliance policies by October 2004.

Leary has been with JPMorgan Investor Services for 11 years as a manager of treasury, board governance and compliance services. Before joining JPMorgan, he worked at Ernst & Young as an audit manager.

IXIS Asset Management Hires Kardok as Vice Prez

IXIS Asset Management Advisors Group has named Michael Kardok as senior vice president and fund treasurer of the CDC Nvest and Loomis Sayles fund families, along with the new AEW Real Estate Income Fund.

Previously, Kardok served as a senior director with PFPC, where he handled the fund accounting and administration unit. He was also a senior manager with Deloitte & Touche.

Lord, Abbett Names Five New Regional Sales Mgrs.

Continuing its recent hiring frenzy, Lord, Abbett & Co. has tapped Andrew D'Souza, Julina Henderson, Jonathan Kingery, Reid Takamoto and John Thomas as regional sales managers.

D'Souza comes to Lord Abbett from Evergreen Investments, where he worked as a regional sales consultant. In his new position, D'Souza will handle the company's Los Angeles sales region.

Henderson, who will cover Lord Abbett's upstate New York, Vermont and western Massachusetts areas, began her financial services career at Lord Abbett, where she once worked as an internal wholesaler before joining the company's strategic relations group.

Kingery, a former external wholesaler and regional sales manager for BISYS Insurance, will cover Baltimore and the surrounding area.

Takamoto, who used to work at First Hawaiian Bank and Morgan Stanley, will become the first person in Lord Abbett history to deal solely with Hawaii.

Thomas will be responsible for Omaha, Neb., and the surrounding areas. He most recently worked as a regional vice president for First American Funds.

Placemark Investments Places Sislen on Board

Alan Sislen, the managed account guru, was named to the board of directors of Placemark Investments.

Placemark said Sislen will help the company in its drive to expand its unified managed account (UMA) offerings.

ICON Advisors Promotes Three Portfolio Managers

ICON Advisors has promoted Robert Straus, Derek Rollingson and J.C. Waller III.

Straus now becomes vice president and chief investment officer. He came to ICON in 1996 as a head equity trader before becoming portfolio manager in 2002.

Rollingson will now take over as vice president and director of research. He has been with ICON since 2000.

Waller has also been given a vice president title, along with director of institutional portfolio management. Like Rollingson, Waller was hired by ICON as a research analyst in 2000.
