DWS Scudder Expands Sales Group With 15 Hires

DWS Scudder, a division of Deutsche Asset Management Americas, has appointed eight new regional vice presidents, four retirement services specialists, two national account managers and one advanced sales specialist.

"Strengthening the DWS Scudder sales platform is one in a series of strategic initiatives we are taking to bolster our efforts throughout the United States," said Axel Schwarzer, managing director and head of DWS Scudder. "These individuals bring with them significant experience from prestigious mutual fund firms and exemplify the high caliber of talent and commitment to world-class service and support we bring to financial advisers across the country."

Jason F. Inglis, Mitchell Izumi, Matthew Sawyer and Douglas M. Wallace, Jr. are the new regional vice presidents covering territories in the West. Phillip B. Northington, Colleen Ignacio Yee and Jeffrey L. Smith are the new regional VPs serving territories in the South. Christopher D. Berg becomes VP in charge of the Central region.

Ruben Gonzalez, Richard Merson, Kevin D. Morgan and Bill Wilkinson have been appointed as VPs serving the Northeast, West, South Central and Midwest regions, respectively, in the firm's retirement services division.

In addition, Kristina Young has been appointed account manager, Derik Liberatore has been named assistant vice president in the financial institutions group, and Andrea Schlapia is now vice president and a member of the DWS Scudder advanced sales team.

Bank of New York Taps Perdigao for New Division

Mark Perdigao, managing director at Bank of New York Brokerage, has been appointed head of a new hedge fund unit that will combine sales, marketing and trading functions serving hedge fund managers. He will be reporting to Anthony Conroy, the head trader at Bank of New York. Perdigao joined Bank of New York in 1986 and most recently managed institutional sales for BNY Brokerage.

GAMCO Investors Names Associate Fund Managers

GAMCO Investors has named Kevin V. Dreyer and Anthony Fritz associate portfolio managers on the GAMCO Global Opportunity Fund investment team, an open-end fund that was launched in 1998.

Dreyer first joined Gabelli as a research analyst. He previously worked as an analyst at Banc of America Securities. Fritz was previously a portfolio manager at Wells Fargo Private Asset Management.

"We are delighted to have Tony and Kevin on board and look forward to them contributing investment ideas to the fund," said the fund's lead portfolio manager, Ceasar Bryan.

PowerShares Hires Brooks As Senior Vice President

PowerShares Capital Management has hired Robert C. Brooks, formerly of State Street Global Advisors, in an effort to further strengthen its upper management team. Brooks joins the company as senior vice president and national sales manager.

"Bobby's move to PowerShares is a tremendous win for us. His extensive financial sales management experience has uniquely equipped him with the ability to significantly contribute to PowerShares' aggressive growth goals," said Bruce Bond, PowerShares president.
