Executive Moves

Scanlon Becomes Head of Fund Marketing at Gabelli

Gabelli Funds, a subsidiary of GAMCO Investors, has hired James C. Scanlon as senior vice president and director of mutual fund marketing and distribution. He comes to the firm from Merrill Lynch, where he was head of retirement group sales for the Northeast/New England territory.

"We are delighted to have Jim focus on our expanding distribution effort," said Mario J. Gabelli, chairman and chief executive officer of GAMCO. "His experience in sales management, wholesaling and key account management will add significant value in our effort to gather more assets through financial intermediaries."

Scanlon said, "I am excited to join a firm with such a well-respected name in the business. GAMCO has done an excellent job over the years earning returns for investors. The consistent style, disciplined investment process and recognition of the Gabelli, GAMCO and Westwood brands are attributes that resonate with financial advisers."

Voyageur Asset Forms Equity Investment Team

Voyageur Asset Management has assigned four members of its equity investment team on the Tamarack family of funds to expand and oversee offerings into small-cap core, micro-cap value and mid-cap value, all complementary to Voyageur's existing equity offerings.

Lance F. James, senior portfolio manager, will oversee the new unit, which also includes Stephen E. Kylander, senior portfolio manager; George Prince, senior equity analyst; and Kristen Patrie, equity analyst and trader.

James has served as a portfolio manager on two of Voyageur's Tamarack family of funds, a role he will continue to fill.

"Because we are already familiar with the people and the process, we believe that this is an easy way to expand the products we offer to our clients," said Erik Preus, chief operating officer at Voyageur. "With this addition, we bring a solid team in house that augments our equity resources and is a great cultural fit."

Voyageur plans to offer the new products on its mutual fund and wrap sponsor platforms, as well as to institutional clients.

Voyageur is a wholly owned subsidiary of RBC Dain Rauscher, which is owned by Royal Bank of Canada.
