Mellon Gives Maisano Additional Responsibilities

Phil Maisano, head of alternative investments at Mellon Asset Management has accepted the additional responsibility of serving as chief investment officer and vice chairman of the firm's Dreyfus subsidiary. In addition, he will serve on the board of directors and operating committee.

Maisano has been chairman and chief executive officer of EACM Advisors, a New York hedge fund, since 1988. After Mellon purchased the company in 2004, he also became head of alternative investments at Mellon. He will remain chairman of EACM but rescind his CEO title.

American Century's Klein Retiring After 17 Years; Hoover to Lead Trading

With American Century Investments Senior Vice President and Director of Global Trading Steven Klein retiring after 17 years of service, the firm has selected Senior Equity Trader Mike Hoover to replace him. Beginning March 1, Hoover's title will be vice president and director of global trading.

"Over the course of his long career with American Century, Steve has been a significant contributor to the development and growth of our trading function," said Mark Mallon, American Century Investments chief investment officer. "Steve influenced the direction of electronic trading in the European marketplace while leading the development of our own capabilities in this area, including the expansion of trading to our New York office.

"In recent years, he oversaw the ongoing evolution of our best execution' practices, expanding our reputation as a recognized leader in the equity securities trading arena," Mallon continued. "For these and his many other accomplishments, we thank him and wish him well in his retirement."

Klein will remain with the firm through February to ensure an orderly transition of responsibilities.

Bullock Becomes CEO, President of ING Division

ING Investment Management has selected Dave Bullock as chief executive officer and president of its ING Funds Distributor unit.

With 26 years of experience, he most recently was president and CEO of Old Mutual Capital, the U.S. retail distribution arm of Old Mutual. Before that, he was president and CEO of Transamerica Capital.

"ING Funds has established itself as a significant distribution arm for ING in the U.S. and is already building a franchise around innovative closed-end funds, fixed income and global products," said Robert W. Crispin, chairman and CEO of ING Investment Management Americas, to whom Bullock reports.

BISYS Alternative Unit Names Prill Executive VP

BISYS Alternative Investment Services, which provides administrative, accounting and tax services to hedge funds and private equity firms, has hired Patrick Prill as executive vice president.

Before joining the company, Prill was chief information officer at Soros Fund Management, managing director of operations and systems at Tiger Management and a principal at Morgan Stanley. He also held a senior management position at Deloitte & Touche.
