Fidelity Gives Johnsons New FMR Board Posts

Fidelity Investments has named the son of Chairman Edward C. Johnson III, Edward C. Johnson IV, a member of the FMR Corp. fund board and promoted his daughter, Abigail Johnson, who already was a director, to serve as one of the board's three vice chairmen. Fidelity revealed the new posts, which became effective last April, in its newly released annual report. Industry insiders say the positions will give the Johnson family more influence on the future of the company, whose stock is evenly divided between employees and the Johnsons.

ALPS Selects Kessel as Senior Compliance Officer

Keith Kessel has joined ALPS Fund Services as senior compliance officer and special counsel, a new position at the firm.

For the past 15 years, Kessel has held a number of executive, legal and compliance positions at investment advisors, broker/dealers, banks, insurance agencies, stock exchanges and securities clearing and depository institutions. Most recently, he was executive vice president and general counsel at Affiliated Financial Services, where he spent seven years working for the holding company and its broker/dealer subsidiary. Before that, he worked as general counsel for two years at Evli Bank, a Helsinki, Finland-based investment banking firm. He also spent six years in the legal and compliance department of the Philadelphia Stock Exchange.

"The depth and breadth of Keith's experience will be of great benefit to all ALPS clients," said Brad Swenson, chief compliance officer at ALPS. "As a licensed attorney with specific experience in the financial industry, Keith is more than qualified to help our clients meet all requirements in an ever-changing regulatory environment."

Bodson Becomes DTCC's Business Strategy Director

On March 1, Michael C. Bodson joins the Depository Trust & Clearing Corp. as executive managing director for business management and strategy, reporting to DTCC President and CEO Donald F. Donahue.

"Mike Bodson is an enormously talented and respected leader in financial services," Donahue commented.

Bodson, a former board member of DTCC, was managing director and global head of operations at Morgan Stanley, a firm where he worked for more than two decades. His previous position at the firm was global head of the institutional securities operations group. Before joining Morgan Stanley in 1986, he worked for Bear Stearns and Price Waterhouse.

Kingsbury Named CEO, President at Pioneer USA

Daniel K. Kingsbury has been named president and CEO at Pioneer Investment Management USA. He previously was chief executive officer of the new markets division at Pioneer Investments, in charge of Central Europe and Asia. Under his leadership, assets in the division grew from $470 million in 2000 to $10.9 billion and the unit expanded from just two countries, Poland and the Czech Republic, to more than 10.

Before joining the firm in 1999, he was CEO of Renaissance Capital Asset Manage-ment, based in Moscow. Before that, he was with American International Group in charge of international business development.
