William Blair Names Chief Operating Officer

William Blair Investment Management has hired Patrick J. Sheppard as chief operating officer. He comes to the firm from The Boston Company Asset Management, where he held the same title.

He brings extensive operational and finance expertise and appreciates the culture that has been cultivated by our private ownership." Before joining The Boston Company, Sheppard held various senior management roles at Scudder Kemper Investments and Scudder, Stevens & Clark.

Lancelot Joins U.S. Trust Unit at Bank of America

U.S. Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management has hired Shawn Lancelot as senior vice president and private client adviser for U.S. Trust. An executive with Bank of America since 1989, Lancelot was previously in the global corporate and investment banking division, where he served in a leadership role for more than 10 years. He has also served in the global consumer and small business banking, global commercial banking and global treasury services divisions.

American Century Fund Loses Slome as Manager

Wade Slome has resigned as the portfolio manager of the American Century Ultra Fund, which he ran for five years, to open his own investment firm in California. His resignation is effective Aug. 31.

Stephen Lurito, who joined American Century last month after 22 years with MUUS Asset Management and Warburg Pincus Asset Management, will head the $12 billion fund until a successor is chosen. The 26-year-old large-cap growth Ultra fund is the Kansas City, Kan.-based company's largest.

Ted Telfords, an 11-year American Century veteran, will remain with Ultra, along with investment analysts Bill Monroe, Terry Foster, Tim Miller and Matt Weight.

Jobson Leads Development At Allianz Global Investors

David Jobson has joined Allianz Global Investors as executive vice president, head of product development for the company's U.S. retail business. With 20 years of experience in product development and investment research and consulting, Jobson joins the company from UBS Financial Services, where he was head of investment solutions and portfolio strategy and construction. Before that, he was head of investment manager research at UBS.

Eagle Appoints Two to Senior Management Team

Eagle Investment Systems, a unit of The Bank of New York Mellon that provides financial services technology, has appointed Robert Leaper and Robert Erman to its senior management team. Leaper's title is senior vice president of global sales, and Erman is senior vice president of professional services.

"We are very pleased to be able to expand the breadth of our senior management team with individuals who have extensive experience in our market," said Eagle President John Lehner. "Both have very strong entrepreneurial, consulting and global investment industry backgrounds."

Leaper was previously CEO of Data Agent, and Erman was an executive vice president at Anaqua and part of the founding executive team at Plural.
