Aucoin, Denninghoff Join Vista Research and Mgmt.

Vista Research and Mangement has hired Luke J. Aucoin and George W. Denninghoff as chief operating officer and portfolio manager, and as chief financial and compliance officer, respectively.

Both come to the firm from Al Frank Asset Management, where Aucoin had headed marketing and distribution of mutual funds and separate accounts. Before that, he worked in sales and marketing at American Funds Group, where he developed education presentations for financial advisers.

Denninghoff was service manager of Al Frank Asset Management's managed accounts group. During his career, he has worked at a number of leading financial institutions, including Bank of America's private client services group, Pacific Life and Mass Mutual Life Insurance. His responsibilities have ranged from client education and service to marketing to portfolio management.

Envestnet Adds Two Investment Execs

Envestnet Asset Management, a provider of wealth management products and services, has hired Richard Hughes as an executive vice president for the distribution of its proprietary investment solutions.

Hughes has more than 20 years of asset management experience. Most recently, he was the president of Haverford Financial Services. Earlier, he was president of Nuveen Asset Management and Rittenhouse Asset Management.

He also was a founding governor of the Money Management Institute.

Envestnet has also hired Jeff Nicholas as senior vice president and director of investment management and research.

Before joining Envestnet, Nicholas worked for Bank of Montreal's Harris Bankcorp, where he oversaw managed account programs.

Dunn, Rainey Accept Key Posts with Brown Advisory

Brown Advisory has appointed Pierce Dunn as a partner and Gordon F. Rainey as a member of the board. Dunn comes to the firm from CONNOR, a national environmental and engineering firm. He was also a tax lawyer with Venable, CEO of Kirk Stieff and head of European operations at TESSO Technologies.

Rainey is chairman emeritus of Hunton & Williams, where he began his career in 1968.

Sharpe Now Co-Manager Of Fidelity Freedom Funds

Having promoted Ren Y. Cheng to chief investment officer of its lifecycle and asset allocation funds, Fidelity Investments has named Christopher L. Sharpe and Jonathan A. Shelon co-managers of the Fidelity Freedom Funds and the Fidelity Advisor Freedom Funds, which Cheng used to oversee.

Sharpe previously managed the VIP Freedom Portfolios alone. Before joining Fidelity two years ago, he was an investment policy officer at John Hancock Financial Services and a consultant and actuary at Mercer Human Resources Consulting.

Shelon, who has been a co-manager of the Freedom Funds since 2003, joined the firm from Callan Associates, where he was a quantitative consultant working with institutional clients, including pension plans, foundations, endowments and insurance companies. From 1993 to 1998, he was an associate actuary at Milliman.

In addition, Derek L. Young has been named sole portfolio manager of five funds that he had co-managed.
