Executive Moves - Vintage Taps Mackay as New Pres, CEO

Vintage Mutual Funds has named James Mackay as its new president and CEO. Mackay is currently serving as the president of the Investors Management Group, the investment adviser and administrator for the Vintage Funds.

The Vintage Funds, which consist of 10 funds within the family, are Amcore Bank's proprietary mutual funds and are distributed through Bisys Fund Services.

Prior to joining IMG, Mackay was senior vice president of strategic development for H&R Block Financial Advisors, a role in which he was responsible for marketing, product development and call center delivery, among other tasks.

Putnam's Dr. Bob Retires; Kelly Assumes Greater Role

Robert Goodman, Ph.D, also known as Dr. Bob, the managing director and senior economic advisor at Putnam Investments is retiring, the firm announced recently.

Goodman will remain a member of Putnam's Business Advisory Group, the firm's panel of experts on economic, business and personal financial topics, and will serve as a consultant and spokesperson at a variety of events.

David P. Kelly, Ph.D., managing director and economic advisor, will now assume a greater role in developing Putnam's view of the global economy and financial markets, the firm said. He will also continue as a spokesperson for the company before broker, financial service industry, and business groups.

Jensen Names Thomsen As Independent Director

Thomas J. Thomsen Jr., who retired in 2002 as CEO of Portland, Oregon-based Columbia Management Co., has been named independent director of public mutual fund The Jensen Portfolio.

Thomsen has held leadership positions in the financial services industry for more than 30 years; he formerly managed fixed income for the State of Oregon Treasury Department and looks to continue a promising trend at 11-year old Jensen, the firm said.

Assets under management at Portland-based Jensen topped the $2.1 billion mark as of November, and the firm currently serves more than 90,000 shareholders.

Badgley Funds Elects Parker as New Director

Seattle-based Badgley Funds announced the election of Victor E. Parker as director. Parker also directs First Mutual Bancshares and the Western Washington University Foundation and formerly acted as trustee for the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce.

Parker is also the chairman and CEO of the insurance brokerage Parker, Smith & Feck. Independent directors already on the Badgley team include Madelyn Smith, Frank Bayley and former Pettit-Morry Co. head Graham Anderson. Anderson is also a director of Commerce Bank.

The 37-year-old, employee-owned Bagley, officially known as Bagley, Phelps and Bell, is an equity-only mutual fund and one of the Northwest's oldest independent investment firms.
