Expect Miracles Foundation Raises $1 Million

The Expect Miracles Foundation, formerly Mutual Funds Against Cancer, raised $1 million at its annual East Coast Classic at Pinehills Gold Club and Indian Pond Country Club.

Sponsored by more than 60 leading financial industry firms, the event was attended by more than 400 business and financial executives. Interactive Data Corp. is currently foundation partner for the organization.

The event also hosted its third annual Kids Golf Clinic, sponsored by John Hancock Financial Services. More than 25 children and teenagers who are currently battling cancer, in remission or whose families have been affected by cancer attended.

“A key to the success of Expect Miracles Foundation is that we have brought the financial industry together to work in unison for such a critical cause,” said Frank Strauss, founder and chairman of the foundation. “We are elated that the industry has embraced the foundation as its charity of choice and has joined our mission to make a difference in the war against cancer.”

The foundation’s next event is the West Coast Classic on Sept. 19 at the Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Beach, Calif., at which 250 senior financial executives are scheduled to attend.

To date, the Expect Miracles Foundation has raised more than $7 million for research at the Belfer Institute for Applied Cancer Science at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
