Fidelity App Lets Users Deposit Checks Via iPad

Many investors put off making final IRA contributions until the last minute, and now Fidelity Investments has an app for that.  The firm says it just launched its mobile check deposit app for iPad, in time for investors to use it before the April 17 IRA contribution deadline.

Fidelity gets about 45% of its annual IRA contributions within the four weeks prior to the April tax deadline each year, according to the firm’s announcement. Using the app involves taking a picture of a check with an iPad and sending it into Fidelity for deposit into an IRA account. Checks can of course also be deposited into non-retirement (brokerage) accounts, subject to a maximum daily limit of $10,000.

Fidelity has had a mobile check deposit app for non-retirement accounts available for iPhones since May 2011.
