Fidelity Creates iPhone App for Independent Advisors

Fidelity Investments has created an iPhone application of its WealthCentral platform for the 3,000 independent registered investment advisors it serves.

Thus, advisors can see client account balances, holdings, transactions, profile information and current account alerts, as well as market news and quotes. Advisors can also customize the application to display their preferences.

Future applications will be created for the iPad and other mobile devices and include trading, interactive charting and more sophisticated account details.

“Advisors increasingly tell us they are looking for new and better ways to improve efficiencies,” said Edward O’Brien, senior vice president and head of technology at Fidelity Institutional Wealth Services. “We’ve leveraged a combination of Fidelity’s people, processes and technology to create a new app that merges innovating mobile technologies such as the iPhone with the power of WealthCentral.”

Rick Adkins, chief executive officer of Arkansas Financial Group, said of the new app: “Our advisors are frequently away from the office when a client needs help or immediate answers to their questions. The new WealthCentral app is a great efficiency tool for our staff, providing access to the same timely, integrated account data regardless of whether or not we are in the office. In addition to having access to client information, we find great benefit in the third-party market news and quote details that are incorporated—all without having to exit the app.”

Currently, 800 RIA firms use WealthCentral.
