Fidelity Expands U.K. Fixed Income Office

Fidelity Investments has increased the size and capabilities of its London fixed income office, enhancing its ability to service institutional clients through Pyramis Global Advisors as well as Fidelity’s mutual fund clients in the U.S.

In addition, Fidelity has hired James M. Stuttard as the office’s first fixed income portfolio manager. Stuttard was previously head of European and U.K. fixed income and lead portfolio manager of global credit at Schroder Investment Management Ltd.

Also joining Fidelity are fixed income analysts Neil J. Beddall, Shaunn A. Griffiths and Lisa MacLachlan.

“We are very excited to add four investment professionals of this caliber to our fixed income team in London,” said Christopher P. Sullivan, president of Fidelity’s bond group. “Not only do they bring extensive experience in the global bond markets, they help us round out what will now be a full-service offering of fixed income portfolio management, research and trading for our clients through our London office. These hires are critical to our efforts to expand our global capabilities in non-U.S. dollar securities analysis and portfolio management. They will help us to provide a fully functioning, on-the-ground approach to fixed income for our institutional clients in Europe and the Middle East.”

The new hires join eight research analysts and one trader currently in the office, established in 2008.

Beddall comes to Fidelity from Barclays Capital, where he worked for 31 years, most recently as a senior credit analyst and director. Griffiths comes to Fidelity from ING Commercial Banking, where he was a vice president and senior credit analyst. Griffiths was also an analyst with Chase Manhattan Bank and Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi. MacLachlan was previously a fixed income portfolio manager at Aberdeen Asset Management.
