Franklin Templeton Investments today announced that it has promoted Mark Meyer as an executive VP who will serve as director of sales for its private client group.

Meyer, who will report to the unit’s CEO, Kent Strazza, will lead the development of new products within the managed account and brokerage channel, the firm said. He will also forge new distribution opportunities.

Meyer joined the company in 1998, serving as an institutional marketer. By 2000, he had been promoted to oversee the firm’s U.S. institutional sales effort within its fiduciary trust unit. He had previously worked at Merrill Lynch and Salomon Smith Barney, where he held positions in institutional sales and capital markets.

In addition, Franklin said that it has also promoted Debra Fisherman, who will work at the company’s private client group as a director. In that roll, she will report to Meyer and will help apply investment strategies to the managed account business.

Fisherman joined the company in 2000 as a managed accounts product manager. She previously was the manager of consulting services marketing at Merrill Lynch.
