FRC, kasina Team Up For New Study

Consultants Align to Look at Electronic Distribution

Financial Research Corporation of Boston and e-business consulting firm kasina of New York have teamed up on a new study due in September that will examine the impact the Web has had on the sales and marketing of mutual funds, variable annuities and managed accounts, the firms announced today.

The study, called 'e-Wholesaling: The Distribution Solution,' will focus on the ways in which online technology is improving the relationship between product providers and distributors and the cost impact of electronic distribution.

In addition, the study will; examine how firms can build an online distribution network, establish a best practices list for supporting wholesalers and advisors online and provide examples of fund companies that are successfully using electronic distribution.

'The costs to service and support an effective traditional wholesaling effort are increasing at an exponential pace,' said T. Neil Bathon, president of FRC, in a statement. 'Leveraging e-commerce technologies to supplement a traditional wholesaling effort while reducing the costs of supporting sales and marketing efforts is one of the most important strategic issues distributors are facing today.'
