Glenmede Appoints Former Goldman Strategist as New Director

Michael James, a former wealth strategist in Goldman Sachs' mid-Atlantic region, has joined the Philadelphia office of Glenmede, an independent investment and wealth management firm, as director of family wealth advisory.

"We are committed to our founding values, one of which is providing to clients the highest levels of professional advice and service," Susan Mucciarone, Glenmede's director of Wealth Advisory, said in a release, "and Michael's joining us is a clear indication of that continued commitment. Having worked with private clients for 14 years in the full-service wealth planning and strategy profession, Michael brings a proven track-record, a family-CEO level perspective and deep technical expertise that will be invaluable to clients."

In his new role, James will continue to develop the firm's comprehensive service offering for entrepreneurial and multi-generational private clients. He will oversee a Philadelphia-based client-service team and lead firm-wide efforts to ensure clients continue to receive the highest level of personalized service and advice, the firm said.

At Goldman, James advised high-net-worth clients on issues involving income tax, gift tax, estate tax, generation-skipping transfer tax, philanthropy, credit protection and life insurance.  Previously, he was a director within PricewaterhouseCoopers' Private Company Services group, where he was responsible for the Wealth Transfer Solutions Network and for advising clients on comprehensive wealth planning matters pertaining to the sale of a business, investment management and contemporary wealth structure and transition strategies.
