H&R Block COO Joins Mutual Fund Store as CEO

The Mutual Fund Store has hired David Byers as chief executive officer. Byers previously was chief operating officer for H&R Block, which he joined in 1999 as chief marketing officer.

Byers will work closely with company founder Adam Bold to expand the franchise with the opening of 16 new stores this year.

“A lot of our expansion going forward will be in markets where we already have a presence,” Bold told BizJournals.com. “David is somebody who has already done the things we’re trying to do at The Mutual Fund Store. This will allow me to spend more time on investments for our clients and on the strategic vision and direction for the company.”

Bold, who previously served as chief executive officer of The Mutual Fund Store, now becomes executive chairman.
