Global assets controlled by hedge funds have reached $2 trillion, an increase of about 18% since April, according to Dow Jones International.
The figure is based on a bi-annual survey from trade publication HFM Week of 57 hedge fund administrators that service the vast majority of the world’s hedge funds.
Hedge funds-of-funds account for nearly half of the assets, or $954 billion, a 20% growth rate since April. Growth in the past year was 53%, compared with a 37% increase in assets between 2004 and 2005.
