Hedge Fund Swindler’s Girlfriend Pleads Guilty to Aiding and Abetting

Debra Ryan, the longtime girlfriend of Samuel Israel III, who was found guilty of swindling Bayou Management hedge fund investors out of more than $400 million, pled guilty Tuesday to aiding and abetting the Israel when he was a fugitive.

Although Ryan could originally have faced up to 10 years in prison, under a plea agreement with the government, that has been reduced to between four and 10 months.

Following the original charges against Ryan in June, she then committed a misdemeanor by sending Israel $300 in cash to him in prison. That charge is still pending.
