After a shaky couple of months, mutual fund assets are ever-so-slightly climbing.
By category, stock funds moved up to $3.111 trillion, with inflows totaling $758 million. Thats pretty good news when compared with Septembers outflow numbers of $29.35 billion.
Bond funds had combined assets of $934.8 billion this month -- a big difference from $3.1 trillion in stock funds. Yet inflows continued to rise -- totaling $13.51 billion in October, up 43% from September.
According to the Investment Company Institute, mutual fund assets for the month of October increased to $6.616 trillion from $6.417 trillion in September. However, the numbers have to climb a little more to get back to where they were -- assets were at $6.739 trillion in August.
