BEA Associates has hired Robert Birnbaum as managing director and head of defined contribution. In his new position, the former managing director and head of defined contribution at J.P. Morgan Investment Management, Inc., will be responsible for building and expanding BEA's defined contribution business in the U.S. and overseas. Before joining J.P. Morgan, he held senior executive posts with Fred Alger Management, Inc., and The Vanguard Group.
Jeffrey J. Hodgman has been elected to the Board of Directors at Nvest, L.P. He comes from Metropolitan Life Insurance Co., where he was executive vice president in charge of general account portfolio management and corporate equity investments since 1994.
Hodgman replaces Catherine Rein, senior executive vice president of Metropolitan Life Insurance, on the Nvest Board of Directors.
Countrywide Investments, Inc., has named Margaret Didi Weinblatt chief investment officer of taxable fixed income.
Weinblatt was previously president and chief investment officer of Copernicus Asset Management, her own firm, where she developed domestic and global investment products. Before that she was a senior portfolio manager and vice president at Neuberger & Berman.
