Putnam Investments has named Jane M. Mancini managing director. Mancini, the former president of Sun Life of Canada (U.S.) Distributors, will be in charge of Putnam's insurance products business. In addition, Putnam has appointed William Connolly, former managing director of fixed-income sales in the Boston office of Merrill Lynch, as national retail sales manager. Both Mancini and Connolly will report to Richard A. Monaghan, the managing director in charge of Putnam Mutual Funds.
John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company has named Maureen R. Ford as president of John Hancock Broker/Dealer Distribution and Financial Advisory Network. Ford, whose appointment is effective May 1, joins Hancock from Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company, where she was a senior vice president. At Hancock, Ford will oversee distribution of the company's mutual funds and sales through independent financial planners. She also will be responsible for a new subsidiary, Investors Partner Life, that sells life insurance through independent broker/dealers.
