Ray Pfeister has been elected vice chairman of Fred Alger Management of New York, an investment management company with over $24 billion in assets under management. Previously, Pfeister was executive vice president of Fred Alger. Before joining the company in 1987, he was a partner at Coopers & Lybrand of New York.

John Lehning has been named director of business development for mutual funds at Turner Investment Partners of Berwyn, Pa. Lehning previously was director of business development for mutual funds at The Brinson Funds of Malvern, Pa.

Charles Ellis has been elected to the board of directors of the Vanguard Group of Malvern, Pa., as well as to the board of each of Vanguard's mutual funds. Ellis is the founder and recently retired managing partner of Greenwich Associates of Greenwich, Conn., an international business and financial strategy-consulting firm.

David VerMeulen has joined Sun Life of Canada (U.S.) Distributors, part of Sun Life Financial Services of Canada of Toronto, as executive vice president for strategic services. Previously, VerMeulen was senior vice president for retirement products and services at Fidelity Investments Institutional Services of Boston.
