Christopher Claus has been named CEO and president of USAA Investment Management of San Antonio, Texas, replacing Michael Roth who will retire. Claus was formerly vice president of sales and service with the firm and has been with the firm since 1994,

Linda Gossler has been named assistant vice president of SAFECO Securities of Redmond, Wash., the distributor of SAFECO mutual funds. Gossler is managing the company's mutual fund marketing department.

Arnold Garron, William P. Martina have been named divisional vice presidents of John Hancock of Boston. Garron, formerly a wholesaler with the firm, will oversee sales of all John Hancock Financial Institutions Group products offered in the Mid-Atlantic, New York, New England, and Great Lakes regions. Martina was formerly an executive vice president and chief marketing officer with the firm's Internet distributor of insurance products. As divisional vice president, he will oversee the company's bank distribution channel in the Southeast, South Central, and Western regions.
