David Johnson has been named executive vice president and chief financial officer of the Hartford Financial Services Group of Hartford, Conn. Johnson was formerly chief financial officer for Cendant Corporation of Parsippany, N.J.
Peter Jones has joined J. & W. Seligman & Co. of New York as senior vice president for institutional sales. Previously, Jones was managing director of institutional sales and client services of the US equity division at Allianz Group of Munich, Germany.
Arthur Levitt, the former chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, has joined the Carlyle Group of Washington, D.C. as senior advisor on matters relating to the firm's private equity investment activities.
