Minnesota Governor Arne H. Carlson was named the newest independent member of the board of directors for IDS Mutual Fund Group of Minneapolis. The appointment becomes effective Jan. 4. Carlson was elected governor in 1990 and was re-elected in 1994. Previously he served as Minnesota state auditor from 1978-90, and as a state legislator from 1970-78.
E*Trade named G. Michael Sievert its vice president of marketing. He will oversee E*Trade's advertising and brand development, direct marketing and web content and marketing groups. Sievert has been manager of worldwide brand marketing at IBM since 1995.
Scudder Kemper Investments has named Jerry Wang vice president, responsible for institutional business development and client service in Southeast Asia.
He also oversees Scudder Kemper's Hong Kong office. Wang was previously with Merrill Lynch as director of the Capital Management Group, responsible for strategic planning, sales and marketing in the Asia-Pacific region.
